After Norway was the first country to stop broadcasting on the FM radio frequencies, what could the future hold for radio as a medium for artistic expression? In a special Radio Cinema* event in collaboration with Cinemateket i Bergen, Artistic Director Peter Meanwell is joined by Danish radio maker and The Lake curator Jan Høgh Stricker to introduce recently commissioned works from the The Lake’s annual Works for Radio series, to be listened to in an intimate cinema setting. They’ll be joined by Norwegian artist Maia Urstad, whose work is deeply intertwined with the technology and textures of radio, and Spanish curator Anna Ramos, head of the on-line radio project Ràdio Web MACBA, at the MACBA: Museu d’Art Contemporani in Barcelona to discuss the future of radio as a medium for experimental sound and music.

*Radio Cinema, means sitting in a cinema listening to radio! What better place to sit back, close your eyes and experience the new cinematic worlds of sound.
