Kōji Yamamura (山村 浩二, Yamamura Kōji) er en japansk uavhengig animatør som startet sin karriere som bakgrunnskunstner for et animasjonsstudio og senere bygget opp en karriere som regissør, forfatter, filmklipper, animatør og bakgrunnskunstner med sitt eget animasjonsstudio, Yamamura animations. Yamamuras animasjon dekker en rekke forskjellige teknikker. Kōji Yamamura (山村 浩二, Yamamura Kōji) is a Japanese independent animator who started his career as a background artist at an animation studio and later built a career as a director, writer, editor, animator and background artist with his own animation studio, Yamamura Animations. Yamamura has created short films, music videos, television advertisements and title sequences, both working with other directors and in his own independent productions.
Yamamura’s animation covers a variety of different techniques. His earliest independent works combined clay painting and stop motion with cels, while his later works have been focused on more traditional animation. Among his most famous works are Mt. Head, Oscar-nominated for best animated short and winner of Cristal d’Annecy in 2003, and A Country Doctor, winner of Ottawa Grand Prize and the Ōfuji Noburō Award in 2007.
This year, ReAnima has the pleasure and honor of celebrating Mr. Yamamura’s works with a masterclass taught by Yamamura himself and a retrospective including some of his best films. This is a unique opportunity to learn from one of the most acclaimed artists in the animation world.
